The Report - Feb. 22, 2023
This week we have computers making condolence letters, Biden visits Ukraine, and so much more...
“Politics ought to be the part-time profession of every citizen who would protect the rights and privileges of free men."
Dwight D. Eisenhower
Good morning and happy Wednesday everyone!
I hope you're having a great start in another day.
It's been a crazy week for just about everyone it seems like.
I'm not gonna waste any time so let's start off with some laughs!
1.) “So You're a Journalist.”
This week, former British residents, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, were the latest celebrities to be teased on the popular comedy, “South Park”. The episode which aired depicts Harry and Meghan's journey of wanting to be normal people and maintain their privacy. Here's a small clip for you:
The hilarious clip made its rounds across Twitter over the past few days and has drawn alot of attention, including from the couple themselves!
According to Fox News, “Markle has been "upset and overwhelmed" by the episode's release and is "annoyed by South Park but refuses to watch it all."
While the article reports that Royal commentator Neil Sean says there could be legal ramifications for the episode, Harry and Meghan have since come out an confirmed that they are not pursuing legal action against the creators.
A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex dismissed claimsthat the pair are pursuing legal action over the episode. "It's all frankly nonsense. Totally baseless, boring reports," he said.
Plus, the couple seem to have their hands full with existing lawsuits at the moment.
At least some of us came away with a few laughs!
2.) President Biden on an International Vacation
Before coming home to America, President Joe Biden decided to make a pit stop in Warsaw, Poland to speak to the locals.
In the mass of attendees, many cheered the president for him advocating the removal of Vladimir Putin from power.
This is the same day that Putin gave a a speech warning the West “The more long-range Western systems are being delivered to Ukraine, the farther we will be forced to move the threat from our borders.”
Quoting more from The Mirror, Putin is also pushing more in the nuclear threats with Russia threatening to withdraw from the START treaty:
“Putin says that Russia is suspending its participation in the New START nuclear weapons treaty, which is the mechanism that keeps a lid on nuclear weapons expansion.
The treaty was signed by Russia and the U.S. in 2010 and caps the number of long-range nuclear warheads they can deploy and limits the use of missiles that can carry atomic weapons.
He dismissed the treaty as a “theatre of the absurd” that the U.S. is seeking to inspect Russian military facilities as part of the treaty, because “the United States and NATO say directly that their goal is a strategic defeat of Russia.”
He also said Russia must stand ready to resume nuclear weapons tests if the US does so.”
With increasing stakes riding on US response, one would only hope in trust in the leadership of President Biden…but unfortunately his speech yesterday was somewhat lackluster according to the former Polish president, Lech Wałęsa:
Well, hopefully things will cool off and we can have a more refined response towards the increased Russian aggression. But for the moment, at least Biden has gained some new fans!
